We’re now into the full swing of NWSL action, with teams further solidifying their rosters and identities amidst a slew of games. To take the pulse of the league, we’re zooming in on one thought for each team ranging from transactions to trends to everything in between.
Onwards, in order of the current standings.
Kansas City Current
Too hot to handle
The Current have hit the ground running in 2024 (and then some), with the team off to an utterly torrid offensive start. They’re averaging 3.4 goals per game – and while that pace will be near-impossible to hold, it’s helped Kansas City open up an early lead in the race for the regular season title.
The most impressive part of the Current’s start is it hasn’t come through the individual brilliance of any one player. Bea Zaneratto and Temwa Chawinga each have four goals apiece, and ten different players have scored for the club this season. Kansas City have had more individual players score goals in the last month or so than 11 NWSL clubs have scored as a team this entire season.
