Before the 2023 season, Backheeled sent a survey to head coaches from around the USL Championship. These are their responses.

The USL Championship's regular season is in full swing, with games kicking off every weekend.

Here at Backheeled, we cover the on-field action each week with analysis of all 24 teams in the Championship, the United States’ second-division professional men’s league. So you know where we stand on a host of topics. But there’s a group of people out there that you don’t hear from quite as regularly, at least not all at once and not on a wide variety of subjects.

That’s right, we’re talking about head coaches — the outward faces and inward hubs of these Championship teams.

Before the 2023 season kicked off, Backheeled sent an identical survey featuring more than a dozen questions to head coaches from around the USL Championship. We wanted to know…where do you hate going on the road? Will a USL team ever win the U.S. Open Cup? Who’s the best young player in the USL?

15 managers took our survey. The results are down below.
