Where we left off last year
2024 season: 40 points, 10th in the Eastern Conference, 21st in MLS
In 2024, a strong first month of the first year under a new regime quickly turned into a reminder of just how much work there was to do in DC.
Ally Mackay’s arrival as DC United’s chief soccer officer and Troy Lesesne’s arrival as the team’s manager breathed some much-needed new life into a club that’s endured far more bad than good over the last decade. Still, with a middling roster outside of Christian Benteke, a poor defense, and one of the three worst goalkeeping groups in MLS based on FBref’s goals saved above expected statistic, the bad once again outweighed the good for a DC team that missed the playoffs for the fifth-straight season.
