Where we left off last year

2024 season: 54 points, 5th in the Western Conference, 8th in MLS

Yet again, Ben Olsen’s team played some of prettiest possession soccer in the entire league last year, with the Dynamo landing inside MLS’s top three teams in short passes and in possession percentage. With an ironclad grip on most games, Houston had a solid-to-good 2024, finishing among the better teams in the West before multiple red cards fueled an implosion in Round One of the playoffs against the Seattle Sounders.

With a gaping hole in the squad where an attacking midfielder should’ve been and only 1,600 minutes from Hector Herrera, the Dynamo didn’t have enough juice to push for a trophy.
