Lucho Acosta is where he wants to be, chasing glory with FC Dallas – and maybe soon with the USMNT

After an offseason of uncertainty, the former MLS MVP is settling into life in Dallas.

Luciano Acosta is home now.

He looks comfortable, as he and his family search to find the right place to live in the north Dallas suburbs. There are plenty of Spanish speakers here, a plus for the Argentina native. It’s bright. Acosta says he’s enjoying the sun. “It’s nice, warm, beautiful” out, and he’s connecting well with his new FC Dallas teammates. This, he’s sure, is where he should be.

“I’m really happy,” Acosta tells Backheeled after a training session in Frisco. “The goal I have is to leave a footprint at the club, to make history.”

Of course, this is not the first time Acosta has felt he’s been at home, has found the right place for his family to put down roots and settle in. During the good times, his 2023 MVP season with FC Cincinnati, he signed a contract extension that was supposed to keep him at the club through 2026 and potentially longer. During the 2024 season, though, it became clear that his time in Ohio would be cut much shorter.
