Where we left off last year
2024 season: 31 points, 14th in the Eastern Conference, 26th in MLS
For the New England Revolution, 2024 was a no good, very bad year. Caleb Porter’s team allowed the third-most goals in a single season in MLS history (74), the attack wasn’t healthy or effective, and they ended up wasting a year of Carles Gil, which is a big no-no as the clock ticks for the 32-year-old former MVP.
The summer transfer window brought major, necessary changes — multiple starting defenders were shipped out, while Alhassan Yusuf and Luca Langoni joined the team in the midfield and forward line, respectively. Peyton Miller, an elite young left back who we’ll talk much more about later, had his chance to shine down the stretch. But, really, positives were unbelievably few and far between.
The good news? It’s MLS! You’re never more than a few transfer windows away from competing again. And if you ask Porter after a busy offseason, New England look ready to compete.
“We had good players here...they just didn't happen to be the right players, once we got in here,” Porter said earlier this winter. “They're still good players, but now we have the right players. Now this is my team. These are, these are my players. I've picked them, and I'm confident in the blueprint that I have.”
