Where we left off last year
2024 season: 47 points, 7th in the Eastern Conference, 16th in MLS
2024 was magical for the New York Red Bulls. Well, at least the stretch from October 29, 2024 to the morning of December 7, 2024 was magical for the New York Red Bulls.
RBNY’s playoff run, one that took them past the defending MLS Cup champions in the Columbus Crew, bitter rivals New York City FC, and Orlando City, was as magical as they come. Unfortunately for folks in New Jersey, that magic ran out when they met a superior LA Galaxy team on the road in Carson in MLS Cup. The Red Bulls are still waiting for that Cup.
Shiny new Designated Player Emil Forsberg was unavailable for a chunk of the year and, frankly, wasn’t as impactful as many would’ve hoped when he was available. The attack was the big question mark for RBNY in 2024 — and that may just be the case again in 2025.
