Where we left off last year
2024 season: 44 points, 7th in the Western Conference
As spring rolled around last year, the Oakland Roots were down bad. Having won just two of their first eight games, Oakland elected to fire manager Noah Delgado, promote Gavin Glinton from within, and see if they could make a run.
Though the season ended on a flat and offensively stagnant note, it's the seven-wins-in-nine run that ensued over the summer that allowed Glinton to keep the job for 2025. During that stretch, the Roots figured out how to weaponize their wingbacks, use players like Camden Riley as two-way weapons, and scrape out results.
Yes, making the playoffs was an achievement. Still, Oakland is frustratingly unable to break through their "bubble team" ceiling, and 2024 only reinforced that history.
