Where we left off last year
2024 season: 52 points, 4th in the Eastern Conference, 9th in MLS
Good, but not quite great — that was the theme of Orlando City’s 2024 season.
After a slow start to the year, Orlando found their footing and showed off one of the best spines in MLS. A lack of a true superstar prevented them from breaking into the absolute top-tier in the Eastern Conference of Inter Miami, the Columbus Crew, and FC Cincinnati. Still, they were well-positioned come playoff time and benefitted from Round One implosions by each of those three clubs above them in the standings.
Even with the path cleared in the postseason, Orlando couldn’t push past the New York Red Bulls in an Eastern Conference final disappointment that still hasn’t faded.
