Is predicting awards in the preseason a fool’s errand? Yup. Can it be a helpful guide to the players and coaches that will define the season ahead? You bet. Sure, the MVP will probably go to the player with the most goals, but understanding who could compete for that honor and scoping out the major narratives that could entice voters is a unique view into the expectations for the year.
