These players are ready to change games in 2024.

Free agent news in the USL comes in fits and starts, with clubs staggering their roster announcements from November to February with little rhyme or reason. Hartford and El Paso have already made four free agent signings apiece, and Sacramento has a 19-man roster set in stone for 2024. By contrast, clubs like Birmingham and Phoenix haven’t breathed a word about the year ahead.

To date, roughly 100 USL players from 2023 rosters are confirmed free agents, and more than a few game-changers are in that group. Which on-the-market players could make the biggest impact for the club lucky enough to sign them?

Last team: San Diego Loyal

With the San Diego Loyal folding, a title contending roster’s worth of players have hit the open market. Much of the former club’s defensive unit (Koke Vegas, Grant Stoneman, Camden Riley) has already moved on, but Ronaldo Damus stands out among their attackers and is one of the can’t-miss players on the market.
