The postseason is finally back, people! After an international break interrupted the MLS playoffs, this weekend marks their return. Just eight teams remain across both conferences as the postseason returns to single elimination. If you lose, you’re out.

Today, we’re diving into the numbers to see what they have to say about what’s worth watching across the four conference semifinal clashes.

Eastern Conference Semifinal: New York City FC vs. New York Red Bulls

The most consequential Hudson River Derby to date is happening in the most unlikely of circumstances. 

Both New York clubs upset favored Ohio clubs to make this weekend a reality, with a hugely surprising result coming from the New York Red Bulls, who knocked off the Columbus Crew. NYCFC had a grueling three-game series, which was decided on penalties. Almost like Jekyll and Hyde, they struggled on the road, putting up a measly 0.3 xG in their two games at FC Cincinnati. They won’t have to worry about a road match in this one, though. Citi Field is one of their three homes.
