We’re a month of a half down in league play, and the table is starting to take place. There have been some positive surprises – who had Kansas City becoming an unstoppable offensive juggernaut on their bingo card? – as well as negative ones – yes, we’re looking at you, Seattle.

To take the pulse of the league, we’re zooming in on one thought for each team. Onwards, in order of the current standings.

Kansas City Current

A truly fun team…but can they maintain?

The Current sit atop the table in large part because they’re the best attacking team in the league by some margin. Both the counting stats and underlying numbers back this up.

Before the season, some wondered if Vlatko Andonovski’s team had the juice to regularly score goals. Now, the only question is if they’ll ever stop.

They also, however, boast some comparatively average defensive splits. It’s obviously not a fatal flaw, but their xG allowed per 90 sits seventh in the NWSL.
